Excruciation

Excruciation is a long-running Swiss metal group whose sound straddles the nexus of death, doom, and thrash, and whose songwriting evokes themes of emotional, physical, and existential despair. The group's early incarnation drew heavily from the extreme metal scene, maintaining a lethal pace and an uncompromising commitment to brutality until their disbandment in 1991. Re-forming in in 2005, the group shifted toward the death/doom point on the extreme metal spectrum, combining heavy riffs and dark, cavernous atmospherics with unrepentant intensity, as heard on efforts like [C]rust (2016), [E]met (2019), and [P]ain (2024).
