Andrzej Panufnik

An important Polish composer, highly innovative and experimental in his early works (using quarter-tones and blank spaces instead of rests), and in his later years adopting a more expressive, direct style suitable for large audiences. Most of his pre-1944 compositions were destroyed during the Warsaw uprising. ~ Mary K. Scanlan
