About 1nonly

1nonly has built his alt-rap career around brooding bass, morose lyrics, and traces of emo and bedroom pop—the two genres he dabbled in before becoming inspired by rap acts like $uicideboy$. But the Korean-American artist (born Nathan Fuller in Las Vegas) brings heavy doses of originality to his style of contemplative rap music. His big hit, 2020’s “Stay With Me,” earned him a Warner Records deal but also showcased his uniqueness in the game. The track gave the song it samples—underrated city-pop icon Miki Matsubara’s same-named number—a whole new audience. Elsewhere, on his 2024 single “Scars,” 1nonly spits over a cloud-rap beat, with hazy synths and haunting backing vocals that would make Clams Casino proud. On the track, he raps about the loneliness of fame and the artifice that comes with fake friendships: “Aye my home is frigid/And I can never really phone a friend and/I been waiting for my soul to diminish.”
