About Enriqueta Tarres

Soprano Enriqueta Tarrés performed frequently in Germany and England as well as in her native Spain, and she made multiple appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She was also an educator. Tarrés was recognized for her work in oratorio and song, but those genres were less represented in her recorded output, which focused on opera. She appeared on major operatic recordings, some of which were reissued; a 1964 performance of Mozart's Idomeneo from the Glyndebourne Festival in England starring a young Luciano Pavarotti featured her as Elettra, and appeared anew in 2010. Tarrés taught at the Vilaseca Conservatory in Tarragona and the Liceu Conservatory of Music in Barcelona. She died in Barcelona on November 18, 2024.
