Brougham

The rap-rock outfit Brougham was formed in Palo Alto, CA, by childhood friends Luke Oakson (aka Luke Sick) and Jason Slater (also of Snake River Conspiracy and a co-founder of Third Eye Blind). Oakson had been in a hip-hop outfit called Sacred Hoop, and approached Slater about producing a record for them; instead, the two began collaborating on new material. Slater and Oakson wrote and recorded most of Brougham's 2000 debut album, Le C**k Sportif, by themselves, but recruited several musicians to help out in the studio; an entirely different touring lineup was assembled to back Oakson afterwards, as Slater elected to go on the road with Snake River Conspiracy. ~ Steve Huey
