About Angela Brown

Angela Brown is an American soprano widely regarded as one of the finest Verdi singers of her generation. Her 2004 debut in a Met production of Aida launched an international career spanning the stages of six continents, with a repertoire centering on Verdi and Puccini heroines and African American contemporary music. Her recordings include a solo vocal recital with Charles Webb (1995), Mosaic: African-American Spirituals (2004), and A Woman's Life by Richard Danielpour (2013). She took part in the recording of the Grammy-winning Ask Your Mama by Laura Karpman in 2015 and sang a leading role in the first recording of Nkeiru Okoye's When the Caged Bird Sings in 2026.
