Shinehead

Carl Aiken, the England-born, US/Jamaica-bred reggae artist best known as Shinehead, released his debut album, ROUGH & RUGGED in 1986, when the dancehall style was really beginning to take off. Shinehead brought a distinct element of hip-hop to his sound, and he was just as comfortable delivering a straight-ahead rap as he was with dancehall-style toasting. Unlike many of the dancehall artists who became popular in the '90s, Shinehead concentrated on positive themes in his lyrics.
