About Morcheeba
The sonically eclectic UK band Morcheeba first earned acclaim at the height of the ’90s trip-hop era. They’ve remained a defining voice of electronic music for over two decades • In their teens, siblings Paul and Ross Godfrey—a DJ and multi-instrumentalist, respectively—left their hometown of Kent, England, for London, where they met vocalist Skye Edwards and formed Morcheeba. • The group’s 1996 debut album, Who Can You Trust?, featured a trip-hop sound that sparked countless Portishead comparisons. Fans of the LP included former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, who invited the trio to collaborate on his 1997 album Feelings. • Morcheeba broke into the mainstream with their 1998 album Big Calm. The platinum-certified LP became their first Top 20 UK placement. • In 2000, Morcheeba made their Billboard 200 debut with Fragments of Freedom, their last album before Skye’s departure from the group. • Two short-lived replacement vocalists later, the Godfreys convinced Skye to rejoin the group. In 2010, the original trio issued their first album in a decade, Blood Like Lemonade. • Following Paul Godfrey’s 2014 departure, the remaining bandmates released one album as Skye & Ross before dropping another Morcheeba project, Blaze Away, in 2018. The latter hit No. 5 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums.
