About DJ Blaqbeat
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest music memory was blending tracks on Virtual DJ just for fun. The turning point came when people danced to my mix at a party. That moment lit a fire in me, and I knew this wasn’t just a hobby. It was the start of something bigger. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Kabza De Small, I Am The King Of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust Sarz, Sinym (Sarz Is Not Your Mate) - EP Vigro Deep, Baby Boy II: Reloaded Vigro Deep’s Baby Boy II Reloaded showed me the soul in log drums. Kabza’s Sweet & Dust made me respect Amapiano as an artform. Sarz’s SINYM inspired me to level up, and his creativity and bounce pushed my sound as a producer and DJ. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Casablanca (feat. Jhene)” I’d choose Casablanca. It was my first official track out there, where I blended soulful emotion with a heavy log drum bounce. It’s bold, cinematic, and emotional exactly how I want my sound to feel. It still hits me every time I play it. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of my most memorable moments was DJing at Davido’s Timeless concert at TBS in Lagos. I opened the dancefloor and watched over 50,000 people move to my sound. That night reminded me why I started and how far this journey can really go. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’d love to tour the world with my sound, playing Amapiano sets in places like Berlin, Tokyo, and Cape Town. I also want to collaborate with Sarz and help discover raw talent back home in Nigeria. There’s still so much I’ve got to give.
