About Dominik Beykirch

Dominik Beykirch became chief conductor of the music theater at the Staatskapelle Weimar and the Deutsches Nationaltheater in 2020. He is also active as a symphonic conductor, leading many of Germany's top orchestras. Beykirch served as music director of Mitteldeutsche Kammerkantate, an ensemble that performs Bach cantatas in central German church services. In 2015, Beykirch joined the linked Deutsche Nationaltheater and Staatskapelle Weimar orchestra as Second Chapel Master. He would steadily rise through the ranks, becoming First Coordinated Chapel Master in 2018. During the 2019-2020 season, he led the first performance in 40 years of Paul Dessau's opera Lanzelot, later conducting a recording of that opera. In 2023, Beykirch conducted the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, backing pianist Frank Dupree on a recording of works by Nikolai Kapustin.
