About Patricia Brennan

Mexico-born vibraphonist, marimbist, improviser, and composer Patricia Brennan is known for her sophisticated, harmonically nuanced blend of post-bop, classical, and avant-garde jazz. Based in Brooklyn since 2009, she is a first-call member of New York's jazz community but has worked throughout North America and is a multi-winner of Downbeat's Jazz Critics Poll. Further, she teaches at NYU Steinhardt and the Manhattan School of Music. Brennan garnered notice in the 2010s working with John Hollenbeck and Michael Formanek, and has been a steady studio and touring presence with many others. Maquishti, her solo debut album, appeared in 2021. 2022's More Touch appeared with drummer Marcus Gilmore, percussionist Mauricio Herrera, and bassist Kim Cass. They joined her septet on 2024's globally celebrated Breaking Stretch. In October 2025, Brennan issued Of the Near and Far, her third Pyroclastic outing, leading a tentet that included a string quartet.
