Joe Bennett & the Sparkletones was a teenage rock & roll group from Spartanburg, SC, consisting of Bennett (vocals, guitar), Howard Childress (guitar), Wayne Arthur (bass), and Irving Denton (drums), that scored a number 17 pop hit in 1957 with "Black Slacks." ~ William Ruhlmann
