About Taylor Austin Dye
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My momma says I used to kick & babble in my car seat when she’d play Hank Jr. and AC/DC on the radio in the car. My earliest memory is singing and playing fiddle to “Rocky Top” at a place called Renfro Valley in eastern KY when I was 5 years old. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Billy Joel, The Stranger (Remastered) Hank Williams, Jr., Habits Old and New Paramore, Riot! I have an eclectic listening preference and that surprises a lot of people. Especially since when you hear my voice, it’s like hearing a human banjo. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Man For That” I released a song called “Man For That” in January, and fans have responded amazingly. It’s a blast to listen to and perform. I wanted it to feel like Shania Twain meets Nickelback, and I think we nailed it. I’m really proud of this one. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The most memorable moment of my career was playing the Opry. From Jamey Johnson’s call to standing in that circle, my debut was a dream. I first visited at 10 with Kids On Stage, toured backstage with Steve Wariner, and vowed I’d play it one day. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Many venues inspire me—Red Rocks, MSG, Bridgestone—but the Ryman and Rupp Arena top my list. I grew up at Rupp; my first concert was Bob Seger. Playing my home arena would be an honor, and the Ryman is country music’s pinnacle.
