About Young Bleed

Louisiana rapper Young Bleed was among the many artists connected to No Limit Records' reign on both the charts and the streets in the late '90s. He grew up in Baton Rouge and emerged from obscurity to almost overnight mainstream success when No Limit CEO Master P included a remixed version of Bleed's track "How Ya Do Dat" on the soundtrack of his 1997 film I'm Bout It. This led to a deal between Young Bleed and No Limit/Priority Records and the release of his debut album My Balls and My Word, which hit the Top Ten shortly after it came out in January of 1998. This would be the rapper's commercial peak, but he continued making new music for the rest of his life, releasing albums like his 2011 Strange Music outing Preserved and 2022's Dare 'Iza' God before his death in 2025.
