Los Ases de Durango

An illustrious institution of Mexican tropical music, Los Ases de Durango were formed in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, in the early '70s. In the course of its storied existence the group more than earned its moniker of "Los Reyes de la Cumbia Norteña" ("The Kings of Northern Cumbia"), churning out genre classics such as "Las Medias Negras," "Estás Como Mango," "Las Limonadas Verdes," "Los Cucos," "Los Males De Micaela," and "La Ramona," to name but a few. Between 1974 and 1990, the original lineup recorded almost 30 albums. The band kept performing with a revolving cast of members led by Raúl López Jr.
