About Sessa

Under the name Sessa, Brazilian musician Sérgio Sayeg writes nimble pop songs that recall classic Tropicália with tasteful nods to bossa nova and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. Based in São Paulo, he spent the early part of his career in New York and co-founded the psych-funk band Garotas Suecas. In 2019, Sayeg signed with the Mexican Summer label and launched his solo career with Grandeza. His 2022 follow-up, Estrela Acesa, added new textures to his minimalist sound and he returned in 2025 with the meditative Pequena Vertigem de Amor.
