About Astral Drive
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Hearing the kaleidoscopic ballad ‘Useless Begging’ by Todd Rundgren at my buddy’s house in '75. I decided , right there and then, that I wanted to be a Songwriter / Record Producer. It was my personal Epiphany. A throwaway song showed me the stars. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Stevie Wonder, Innervisions Remastered The Beatles, Revolver Todd Rundgren, A Wizard, a True Star Melody, magic , musical mescaline ! I love the positive spirit ,the inspirational songwriting and the experimental personal ‘reach' of these artists . Going boldly where no others had before . Creating new sounds and melting influences together. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Summer of '76” This is a loosely autobiographical song about my teenage years . My friends , that endless summer and the musical inspiration that led me to a career as singer-songwriter and a 'producer for hire ( The Cure, Bryan Adams, Natalie Imbruglia's ‘Torn’ ) What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I’m lucky to have had a lifetime of memorable musical moments. Working with Macca as a teenager; touring the world with The Cure and later, Bryan Adams. Big hits ( ‘Torn’ ) and multiple Misses. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? It would be a dream to have Todd Rundgren produce an Astral Drive album. With Bill Evans on piano. Marvin Gaye and The Beach Boys singing harmonies . Stevie Wonder on Chromatic. James Jamerson on Bass. Ben Folds on drums. Sparks could fly.
