In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Me and my siblings were creating a cassette of surreal songs and imaginary sounds. We discovered that by pressing ‘Record’, and simultaneously the Pause button half-way down, we could change the recording speed and transform our voices. Nathan Riki Thomson)” Simmerdim is the title track from my multi-artist curlew album project with the RSPB. It explores my memories of curlews calling out in the ‘simmerdim’—the night-long twilight found in the Northern Isles around midsummer. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The proudest moment so far has been collaborating with the RSPB on 'Simmerdim: Curlew Sounds' (2022) - a double album, multi-artist project of newly-commissioned works and soundscapes, inspired by one of the UK's most iconic and endangered birds. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? The bucket has only the first drops of water in it! The world is full of interesting creatures to collaborate and make music with.
