KLa Project

Poetry and music may go hand-in-hand, but it takes a special kind of skill to translate the combination into an intergenerational, commercially successful entity. Jakarta-based KLa Project has enamoured music aficionados across Indonesia over several decades thanks to their masterful compositions and elegiac lyricism, largely courtesy of lead singer/guitarist Katon Bagaskara. 1990’s “Yogyakarta”, a heart-rending showcase of amorous nostalgia, became KLa Project’s breakout hit and the first of the group’s many signature songs.
