The James Hunter Six

The James Hunter Six are a soul-blues band from Essex, England. Their kinetic, earthy sound provides backing for their singer/songwriter, guitar-slinging namesake, whose weathered yet buttery smooth voice has made the group both a critical favorite and touring sensation. Though they've been together since the 1990s, they've been billed as the James Hunter Six since releasing 2013's Minute by Minute on Daptone. The band recorded 2016's Hold On! direct to eight-track tape at Penrose Recorders in Riverside, California. They repeated the formula for 2018's Whatever It Takes and 2020's globally acclaimed Nick of Time. In 2022, they shifted gears by releasing their first collection of romantic songs, titled With Love. They returned in January 2026 with the raucous Easy Eye Sound release, Off The Fence.
