About O. B. Buchana

O.B. Buchana is a Southern soul and blues singer with an easygoing approach that smoothly slides between ribald and heartfelt in nature. The Clarksdale, Mississippi native started singing as a youngster in his Baptist church, and became lead singer of the gospel group Mighty Suns of God in his teens. His move to secular material began with "Back Up Lover," the lead single off his debut album, It's Over (1999). During the 2000s and 2010s, he released new albums at a rate of roughly one a year and expanded his audience with cleaner songs such as the free and easy "Swing On" and the devotional ballad "You're the One Baby," highlights from the respective albums Mississippi Folks (2015) and Swing On (2017). Since the release of Southern Soul Brother (2021), Buchana has issued numerous singles and EPs that include Cheating on the Weekend (2024) and Saddle Up (2025), all the while remaining active as a performer.
