The April 2026 release of Teni’s “Zion,” a stripped-back guitar ballad featuring Olamide, signaled a clear departure from the pop-laden tales of heartbreak that made up 2023’s TEARS OF THE SUN. Not that traditional Nigerian folk tracks are a new venture for the popular singer-songwriter. After all, successes in earlier stages of her career were punctuated by hits like the uplifting “Uyo Meyo.” TEARS OF THE SUN, however, traded that in for punchy moments like “No Days Off,” where she showed off a willingness to venture into grungier territory. With The Wellness Package then, Teni returns to her roots both sonically and conceptually, dishing out the type of affirmative anthems that first drew the world to her music. Within the EP, Teni builds a world with—as she sings on “Meditation”—“Only positivity/No negativity.” She appears settled in herself and takes moments to instinctually serve up lessons born from lived experiences, like on “Wise Teni,” which features contemporary highlife duo, The Cavemen.. They make perfect companions for a didactic adventure. The pace continues on “More Money,” Teni singing about the confounding proclivities of the money-hungry. “HTGT” plays like a neatly placed bow on the project, Teni wishing fulfillment for all who shall encounter her message. “Enjoy your life while you can breathe,” she sings.
