Released right after Mac Dre’s 2004 death, this album represents an entertaining exchange between two underground legends, with Mac Mall playing the straight man and Dre the somewhat wacky sidekick. This works best on the smooth “Heat & Head,” which has a tinkling, melodic instrumental that both rappers find a home in. The album is sonically equitable, too: “I Got…” has a heavy crawl that serves Mac Mall’s interests, while “Willingly” is sparse and acoustic, giving Dre room to play.
