More than five years into their career as a K-pop squad, P1Harmony’s swagger hits a bit harder than a rookie team’s hype track tends to. On their ninth mini album UNIQUE, the FNC Entertainment sextet are still young, but they also have years of nonstop touring across Europe and North America under their belts that give the central “I’m unique” assertion of the Brazilian phonk lead single some weight. But it’s the B-sides of UNIQUE that best back up the boastful concept, demonstrating the range of this team. “L.O.Y.L.” intersperses soft synth sounds with a textured hip-hop edge. “Wednesday Girl” sails along on satisfying vocal melodies that P1Harmony only occasionally leans into, despite their name. “ICE (VVS)” breaks back in with the high-energy drama and rap delivery that define P1Harmony’s stage presence better than a single hook ever could.
