Heavily influenced by Drake and Kanye, Unexpected Arrival has the hallmarks of today's shiny pop-rap: huge drums, electro flourishes, R&B choruses, and digitally processed rhymes mostly about girls, his ascent to fame, and shaking off the haters. Produced mostly by D'Mile, the bright and bold sound is ideal for clubs and high school dances, while Diggy's confident flow is smooth and catchy enough to hold things together with minimal guests. Jadakiss turns up on the synthy single "88," while Tank lends his crooning skills to the love jam "Special Occasion." But for the most part it's all Diggy, who shines especially on the futuristic romance joint "4 Letter Word" and the rowdy anthem "Hello World."
