While this legendary Sinaloense ensemble have been building a rep for their staunch, blaring banda since the ‘60s, their 13th studio album, 2009’s Más Adelante, may be La Arrolladora’s most tender one. Gut-wrenching ballads like the brass-filled “Ya Es Muy Tarde” or the sweeping “Carita de Perdón” are bound to make hearts burst. Between cheek-to-cheek moments, they light up the pista on the polka-driven “Sabor al Caldo” and the narcocorrido “El Árbol de la Horca,” where debauchery is not only welcomed, it’s encouraged.
