Manhunt

Manhunt

Visibly associated with Westside Gunn’s Griselda, Boldy James and Rome Streetz have appeared on each others’ projects before, including 2022 outings Killing Nothing and KISS THE RING. For their first proper duo set Manhunt, these sublime and streetwise rappers speak on what they so intimately know over engrossing beats by the likes of Nicholas Craven and Chuck Strangers. While not as stark a contrast as Ghost and Rae, their respective flows and tones allow both artists to shine on cuts like “Cheat the Grind” and the soul-soaked victory lap “Like Biggie Did.” They stay topically in sync throughout, allowing “Hot Plate” and the gleaming yet bass-heavy “Tricky” to complement their growing discographies. On the standout “Only One,” both James and Streetz spit some of the best verses of their careers to date, the former transmuting tragedies into triumphs, and the latter grinding like his life literally depends on it.
