Redemption Road

Redemption Road

Tom Paxton left Oklahoma for the same Greenwich Village folk scene that called out for Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Jackson C. Frank, and Dave Van Ronk more than 50 years ago. At 77 years old, Paxton has said he'll quit touring as of April 2015, but that isn’t for lack of musical chops. Paxton’s in fine form on Redemption Road, an album that’s been counted as his 60th record! His heart and compassion remain strong and true on “If the Poor Don’t Matter” (“then neither do I”), and he pays tribute to Van Ronk with the playful “The Mayor of MacDougal Street.” Janis Ian harmonizes on the title song.
