Vic Mensa is as comfortable singing softly over synth pads as he is spitting bars, and on the Kid Cudi–style rock lament “Rollin’ Like a Stoner” he reminds us as much. But on this EP, he’s as likely to give hooks to Mr Hudson (“Almost There”) as to a chuckling Pharrell on the Neptunes throwback “OMG.” His lines are sharp: His girl on “OMG” is “mean-muggin’ like Frida Kahlo,” while on “Rage” he takes baleful stock of police brutality and his own directionless behavior.
