The African Museum + Tad's Collection, Vol. II

The African Museum + Tad's Collection, Vol. II

One of the most legendary and influential singers in reggae history, Gregory Isaacs began recording in the late '60s and hit it big in the early '70s, starting his own label (African Museum) and scoring huge hits like "My Only Lover" and "Love Is Overdue." Also known as Cool Ruler and Lonely Lover, he put out literally hundreds of records over the next several decades, appeared in the classic film Rockers, and collaborated with just about everybody in Jamaica, including Prince Buster, Lee "Scratch" Perry, and Niney the Observer. Despite grappling with serious health issues, he made hits throughout the '80s and '90s and was still recording new material right up to his 2010 death. This massive collection mines the vaults for both obscure tracks and well-known singles such as "Night Nurse" and "My Number One," giving us 41 songs from all phases of his career. Whether you're already a hardcore fan or just getting into his music, this is an excellent compilation from the undisputed master of lover's rock.
