Gregory Isaacs Essentials

One of reggae's most soulful vocalists, Gregory Isaacs began his career during the rocksteady years of the late '60s, but he truly became a superstar in the early '80s, when his sweet lovers rock sound made listeners swoon around the world. With his velvety croon, Isaacs was the king of smooth and seductive grooves, but he could also hang with the rude boys of dancehall. Always a troubled soul, decades of drug addiction slowly took their toll on Isaacs, and he died of lung cancer in 2010, leaving behind a remarkable legacy as reggae's charismatic master of the romantic slow jam.
