Steady Diet of Nothing

Steady Diet of Nothing

On their second full-length, Fugazi start to loosen the taut dynamics that defined their debut and preceding EPs. “Reclamation” boasts all the noise and fury of their signature agit-punk anthems but unfurls like a woozy dub remix, as if its incendiary dissonance were melting down the rhythm section. The D.C. band had never sounded as supple as they do on the mellow motorik groove of “Long Division,” with Ian MacKaye’s usual bark replaced by a voice that barely rises above a murmur.
