Trapeando Vol. 1

Trapeando Vol. 1

Harlem-hailing bilingual rapper Messiah remains an enduring presence in Latin music. After his early days in duo mode with Tali Goya, he struck out on his own and built an impressive solo discography with high-visibility moments including an official “Bodak Yellow” remix opposite fellow Dominican American and New Yorker Cardi B. He acknowledges that history and longevity at the start of Trapeando Vol. 1, alluding to the struggles conjoined to his come-up while committing to a continuous get-money hustle on opener “Un Brindis.” From there on out, he’s actively living up to the promise of the project’s title on cuts like the Foreign Teck-produced “Champan” and the downright cinematic “Dios, Patria y Libertad.” As things progress, guests like Flow Mafia and Red 6xteen begin to make themselves known. Bronx rapper NTG joins in for the laidback and lascivious “Soltera,” while seasoned MC Fuego makes a worthy foil for Messiah on the somewhat jazzy “Los Poderes.”
