Well done

I absolutlly love a well recorded album, every track on here glistens with perfection. Although this album is a little more synth based than most of thier stuff it is still good. Occasionally reminesent of classic Kansas and in no way is that a bad thing.

Disappointed - Background Music

I really wanted to like this album, but can't get into it. I am always looking for new bands/music. Being a former musician and old school prog and jazz/fusion fan, I tend to appreciate the technical, interesting music. Recently, I got into Spock's Beard, Neal Morse, Porcupine Tree and Planet X to name a few. This band keeps coming up with great reviews. I listened to the samples and thought I would like this. To me, it is just one long syth/keyboard song. There is really no song structure, no melody or lyrics to remember. Just long meandering passages and throw away lyrics.

The musicianship and sound quality is high, just not my cup of tea. When you see that there two most popular songs are both covers, perhaps that confirms that their songwriting skill is lacking. For the life of me, I can't figure why anyone (especially well trained musicians) would want to play a cheesy old Dan Folgeberg song is beyond me. OK if I am working and don't want to actually listen to music, but I turned it off the 2nd time through. If you want something like this, I would go with Steve Hacketts latest releases.
