Veteran rockers, bassist Jack Bruce (Cream) and guitarist Robin Trower (Procol Harum), brought strong life to their 2008 release, Seven Moons, and they bring even more excitement to these live performances recorded on February 28, 2009 in Nijmegen, Holland with drummer Gary Husband featuring nine of that album’s eleven tracks. The live setting allows Trower to set off spontaneous, adrenaline-fueled solos that are met with the tough interlocking rhythm section. Three Cream tunes — “Sunshine Of Your Love,” “White Room” and “Politician” — are thrown in and add some fierce soloing from Trower and Bruce. “Carmen” from Bruce and Trower’s first collaboration, 1981’s B.L.T., features Bruce’s soulful pleadings. “Just Another Day” and “Bad Case Of Celebrity” slow things for maximum impact. “Perfect Place” adds a touch of funk with Trower’s crybaby wah taking full effect. This is a blues power trio built for the ages.
