

Che hails from Atlanta, but he does things a little differently from many of the scene’s biggest stars. The rapper announced his 2025 sophomore album REST IN BASS by sending an iPod Shuffle loaded with the album to popular streamer 42 CEO. Che has always had a flair for the unexpected, which he brings to these 18 tracks. From the provocative airbrush-inspired cover art to his eccentric song titles, the songwriter born in 2006 knows how to hold an audience’s attention. It helps that the songs are equally electrifying. Take opener “SLAM PUNK,” which spins the distorted technicolor fever dream of Atlanta peer Playboi Carti into all sorts of delirious directions. Elsewhere, on the Chuckyy-assisted “NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE,” he taps into a more laidback flow, allowing the dizzying array of synths to lead the procession. In both modes, though, he showcases a new sound emerging out of the modern American rap mecca.
