With some two decades of experience to their credit, the instrumental duo of Lelo and Jazzy— also known as Los Hitmen—have worked with countless Latin stars across their career. Yet one of their biggest hits came at the dawn of the 2020s, as co-producers on then-emerging singer Jay Wheeler’s breakout single “La Curiosidad.” With the full-length showcase SEASON 1, they present a contemporary representation of the work they’ve been putting in for reggaetón, with legacy artists and younger stars in tow. As modern as these productions sound, throwback elements subtly make their way into the music, as on “Dos, dos y dos” with Brray and the provocative “CULiSuelt@” with Cachirula and LOOJAN. Naturally, the aforementioned Wheeler appears here on the lustful single “Dispuesta,” joined by the dependable and R&B-inclined Justin Quiles. So do Los Hitmen’s prior collaborators Jowell & Randy, joined by Fronti on the perreo-ready reunion “Se Monta,” as well as genre veterans Wisin and De La Ghetto on the slower-paced “La Culpable.”
