Bad Wolves is a modern metal supergroup comprising current and former members of DevilDriver, God Forbid, Divine Heresy, In This Moment, and Bury Your Dead. On Disobey, they fuse nu-metal aggression with towering vocal melodies and pull-no-punches politics. Bruising riffs and huge choruses take center stage on “No Masters,” the race-relations commentary “Officer Down,” and the bass-driven “Jesus Slaves.” Piano, strings, and subtle electronics create a dramatic backdrop for the album’s centerpiece: the band’s already-viral cover of The Cranberries’ 1994 protest song, “Zombie.”
