This debut album from Aussie producer Murdoch moves at a spellbinding pace, its fluid grooves slowly unfurling along a sea of deep bass and undulating synths. He has a keen sense for space, echoing James Blake's dreamy R&B vocals and wobbling sub-bass on "Nothing for You" and "Frogs," before melting lush ambience into hypnotic breakbeats and vocal loops on "Straws" and "Fray." It feels like the perfect soundtrack for a slow-mo swim through the Great Barrier Reef—that is, until the spacey deep house of "Wash" lifts you straight out of this world.
