Collecting the Stones' BBC radio performances from 1963 to 1965, On Air captures a young band realizing and embracing its power. In keeping with the Stones' early approach, most of the tracks are blues or soul covers, and the band brings a scrappy, feral feel to Buster Brown's "Fannie Mae" and Tommy Tucker's "Hi Heel Sneakers." When they toss in an original song like "The Last Time" or "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction,” the tunes bear an even more visceral feel than their now-classic studio versions.
