All We Do
The pairing of east Londoners Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West (as a band, and as a couple) serves up a fresh, bright-eyed brand of modern romance and with lyrics like “You've got diamonds in your eyes tonight” (on "Dazzle") there’s a sparkle to their jazzy pop. All muse on love with off kilter reference points (see "Shark" for further details), but there’s no danger of this becoming saccharine or one-note. "Livewire" is a jaunty ballad, "Body Gold" keeps a twinkly smooth groove, while "Midnight Moon" offers subtle, surging power pop. "We'll be scraping the sky with our fingertips," they chirrup on "Plans". And it sounds rather accurate.
