Foreigner virtually defined the hard rock division of AOR in the late 1970s with riff-heavy, breast-pounding anthems such as “Feels Like the First Time,” “Cold As Ice,” “Long, Long Way From Home, “Hot Blooded,” and “Double Vision.” The band could turn moody (“Blue Morning, Blue Day”) and their musical dexterity meant they easily assimilated into the 1980s with a stronger emphasis on keyboards and soulful ballads. But nothing could keep the original line-up together. Singer Lou Gramm had been in and out — his last contribution is 1995’s “Until the End of Time” — and this collection ends with a completely revamped Foreigner with backing guitarist Mick Jones for the newly recorded “Too Late” and the three live recordings finishing this comprehensive collection.
