Operating as his alter ego LA Priest, UK musician Sam Eastgate describes his fourth album as a “maximalist, cyber-influenced” work. Writing in tandem with co-producer Alex Ridha (also known as Boys Noize), the duo’s gurgling, synth-based tracks provide a space-age backdrop for Eastgate’s lilting vocals. “Rayon” draws the listener Into the Sky with a breezy Geogaddi-era Boards of Canada vibe. “Ever No” sees Eastgate’s voice hitting modern R&B highs as the production combines a liquid bassline with what could easily be mistaken for early Atari sounds. Not to be outdone, the title track “Into the Sky” ramps up like a rave banger before evening out into frantic electro-pop and fizzling into the ether.
