Measure of Love

Measure of Love

Longtime friends Misty Edwards and David Brymer come together to collaborate on an EP that brims with so much symbiotic chemistry it begs for them to record a full-length album. “Measure of a Man” starts with a beautiful sadness as the two sing in close harmony over an acoustic guitar, sounding like they're sharing one microphone. Edwards takes the lead, singing poetically about how a man can be measured by his capacity to love. In the similarly melancholic “Above the Sun,” Edwards recalls the search for grace through the scars of her youth. It’s quite an intimate ballad, emphasized by a string ensemble’s dramatic accompaniment, recorded with such attention to detail that the friction and textures between bow and string can be heard on close listens. “Lord I Want You” is a piano-based prayer where Brymer takes the lead as ascending notes give the verses a lofty feel, swept upward by layered cellos.
