MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO (BICHOTA SEASON)

KAROL G always intended to drop an expanded edition of MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO, her 2023 album. Yet once that exploratory and often personal full-length was out in the world, she had second thoughts. “By then, the Deluxe version did not make sense,” the Colombian superstar tells Apple Music. “I started listening to the music again and started seeing it as a cassette with an A-side and a B-side.” Thus began a reevaluation of the project into a separate companion piece, a 10-track mixtape of sorts replete with fresh features by Peso Pluma, Dei V, and Young Miko. While the resulting MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO (BICHOTA SEASON) builds off of the earlier album’s aesthetics and themes, KAROL G sees a clear distinction between the two records. “MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO was very beautiful, particularly after living a process of transition, change, and evolution,” she says. “With BICHOTA SEASON, I feel more free, self-confident, and empowered. I want to show my force and the grandiosity of what I have accomplished with so much sacrifice and work. That’s Bichota Season for me—the evolution.” Read more about some of KAROL G’s favorite BICHOTA SEASON tracks below, in her own words. “MI EX TENÍA RAZON” “This song is my ‘baby’ of the album. I’m a big fan of Selena Quintanilla. She is and will continue to be a big motivating factor in my career and personal life; I even have a tattoo of her on my arm. This song is very special because it has that Tejano vibe. We recorded all instruments live—the guitar, the piano, etc. It was an incredible experience. In the video, I am wearing a Selena Quintanilla shirt. With this song, I want to share my great admiration, love, and respect I have for her and her music.” “OKI DOKI” “I am in love with this song. I worked with Sky Rompiendo on this one. I worked with him previously on ‘Pineapple’ and after all these years, we went back to the studio knowing that we wanted to showcase a different side of me, and the result is ‘OKI DOKI.’” “ME TENGO QUE IR” (feat. Kali Uchis) “It is a very special collaboration. We’ve been working together a lot during this past year, trying to find a song that would represent us both, and I am sure we found the perfect balance. The best part is we are both Colombians, and we are representing our country.” “PROVENZA REMIX” (feat. Tiësto) “This remix is not new, but we hadn’t officially released until now. I played it as part of the live show during my $trip Love Tour, and people connected very well with it. Last summer, Tiësto invited me to perform with him at Tomorrowland our song ‘Don’t Be Shy,’ and for that show he did a special version of ‘PROVENZA.’ We hadn’t had the chance to release the song, but it’s a surprise that I know my fans are going to enjoy. ‘PROVENZA’ marked a special moment in my life and my career, and I think this is the right time to release it.”
