Private Suite (Vol. 3)

ROA

For ROA, the Private Suite series serves as the clearest representation of where and how he operates in Latin music. This third volume in what has effectively become an annual tradition for the Puerto Rican singer continues to harness and enhance his sleek, modern R&B approach. Starting with “QUE TE PASA?”, he’s coyly confrontational with a temperamental lover over its immersive instrumental. That transitions seamlessly into “EENIMINIMAINIMOE,” a blown-out trap escapade of secretive seduction. He’s as confident as any of his chosen genre’s rogues’ gallery of romantics and lotharios, lamenting over the one that got away on “11:11” and seething over the unworthiness of his competition on “J’s INTERLUDE.” Showing a willingness to abandon the player lifestyle for the right woman, he makes an earnest plea on “ARE YOU FEELING ME?” and even more explicitly dedicates himself to a ride-or-die on the freakfest “MI DEMONIA.” When Dei V shows up for the slow-mo perreo of “LA FAVORITA DE DIOS,” the temperature reaches sweltering heights.
