The title of rap superstar Emiway Bantai’s 2025 album FTSTTS stands for “From the Streets to the Streams”. Indeed, its 13 songs have him reflecting on struggles and celebrating successes as he marks 12 years as Indian hip-hop’s most consistent independent hitmaker. Lyrically, it’s familiar territory, but sonically he explores new terrain—teaming up with fellow Mumbai MC Naezy on the fiery “Aflatoon” and backing his braggadocious bars with polyrhythmic drums on “Mat Kar Lala”. Bantai can’t resist another diss track (“Mera Naam Hai”) but he balances it out with some timely social commentary (“Those Dayz”).
