Often the artists helming Apple Music’s exclusive Early Hours DJ mix series cater to both frames of mind. For Fauzia—a fast-rising star in London’s underground who has built a fanbase through platforms like NTS and Discwoman—the goal was simply to unwind. Her mix, a tapestry of alt-R&B, UK rap, and dub-techno, feels at once seamless and wonderfully surprising. “My general philosophy is to play things I’d like to hear,” she tells Apple Music. “Here, I’ve chosen tracks I’ve been listening to and that I play when I’m trying to relax.” Some of her selections are longtime favorites (Clara La San, Joanne Robertson) while others are fresher discoveries. “I’ve been rinsing Javier Segura’s ‘Malagueñas 2,’” she says. “The synth line is so engrossing, and every time I listen [to it] I hear something new.”
