Dopamine BØRNS
EDITORS’ NOTES
It’s no surprise that Michigan’s BØRNS moved to L.A. before recording Dopamine—it's pure Southern California in a bottle. In the studio, Garrett Borns' sunkissed falsetto and intricately penned confessionals are given a glitzy bump. “Electric Love” explodes with a crunchy T. Rex-style riff before it takes a turn for sweet, breathy indie pop. On “The Emotion”, BØRNS channels Jeff Buckley and Bjôrk in equal measure over a shimmering wash of guitars. But what threads these lilting gems and electro-pop heaters together is that most narcotising of emotions—love is the drug he's thinking of.
