Crown of Creation (Bonus Track Version)

Crown of Creation (Bonus Track Version)

More accessible than the raw magic of After Bathing at Baxter’s, Crown of Creation, Jefferson Airplane's fourth studio album, balances the group’s many strengths, opening with soothing compositions, including Grace Slick’s entrancing “Lather” and David Crosby’s risqué “Triad” (which Crosby’s band, The Byrds, refused to release). The premium musicianship of guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady, who treated his bass as a lead instrument, provided the firepower necessary for tunes like the ultra-cool “Star Track,” the eerie “Share a Little Joke,” the shuffling “If You Feel,” and the heavy title track. The closing trilogy stands among the group’s best work.
